LATEST ANKARA STYLES YOU NEED TO SEE

When I see these prints I marvel at the mix of colors, the creative patterns and designs and then I wonder how the name Ankara came about. As we all know the name “Ankara” is the capital of turkey and its also the name of the African print, but let me let you in on a brief historical information, the African print was formerly known as the dutch wax or Holland wax but because the Turks (the Turkish people) went on to create cheaper prints we began to call it Ankara after their capital.

Well this are the simple facts on the birth of the print and the popular name. The Ankara gained popularity because of its lightweight feel and many nigerian manufactures decided to have a go at it. Now this fabric which is a representation of the African culture and traditions has been re-born, we’ve now taken this into the next level as the Ankara fabric can no longer be used for only Iro and Buba purposes, there is now an array of styles we can sew with this versatile fabric.

All the praises have to go to the fashion designers who made this happen, they made it their business to popularize this fabric. It was quite the evolution as we saw this fabric sewn into jewels, handbags, suits and now every style you can think of from culottes, to palazzo’s to blazers to crop tops, dinner dresses and the list goes on and on.

We also have to thank some international celebrities as well as our local celebrities, Stylist, fashion Influencers and fashion bloggers that turned this simple cloth into something magnificent with the way they style and put it together. No longer a simple folk piece, the Ankara is now part of our everyday life.

Now its up to you to style it anyway you want or where it anywhere you want (yes, workplace included) and its up to us at shacara to bring you the latest style inspiration that you need; So scroll down and check out some cool and fabulous Ankara styles that you can incorporate into your wardrobe this Month:
