In Nigeria its tradition in some cultures for the bride to be seen in an head wrap on her traditional wedding day. This tradition can be traced to both the western and northern part of nigeria, this two cultures believe in adorning the heads of their bride’s to be, to them a head wrap adds to the beauty of the bride.

Fast forward to the modern age, every other tribe now adorns the traditional western head wrap popularly called the “Gele”. The “Gele” has definitely taking over. A lot of women from other tribes can be seen appropriating this style into their tradition and who can blame them, the gele makes you look fabulous.

There are wonderful ways you can tie your gele whether you choose to go with the latest and trendiest style which is the “Infinity Pleat Gele” or the still trending “Orente Gele” or you decide to stick with one of the old school’s you know that you would look fly as f**k on your traditional wedding day.

Aside’s from the style there are so many fabrics you could use on your big day but the most popular is the aso-oke. While am all for the aso-oke, not everyone likes to follow the crowd, if you are that type of person then you could try an embellished velvet head gear. The velvet fabric is a beautiful fabric but its rarely used as a head gear, this doesn’t mean it has not been done before. Other fabrics you can use includes the damask, Ankara, jubilee etc.
