ARISE Fashion Week 2018 Day 1: Abaya Lagos

ARISE Fashion Week 2018 Day 1: Abaya Lagos

The runway shows of the highly anticipated ARISE Fashion Week kicked off on 31st March 2018 at Lagos Continental Hotel (formerly Intercontinental Hotel) with stunning collections from various designers across Africa.

Abaya Lagos founded by Salihat Adewunmi Rahaman was conceived out of a love for Arab and Asian clothes that gives vibrancy and uniqueness to overall day-to-day dressing. Their products are mainly Turbans and Abayas (open front robes and kaftans; tunics and jackets).

Abaya Lagos dazzled guests with Arabian-inspired cosmopolitan designs accentuated with turbans and sunshades. The collection is inspired by the colours and vibrance of African and Arabian opulence and royalty – JEWEL TONES. The silhouettes depict a “structured flow” of lines and shapes, a bold but seamless mix of Nigerian CULTURE and ARABIAN opulence!

The collection is characterized by Rich and precious hues – JEWEL TONES. Deep ox-blood, gold, magenta, emerald, violet, bronze and antique rose – are enhanced by neutral and soft tones such as camel, cement grey and deep black. It is also characterized by the signature capes and kimonos. Surprise elements to the collection feature androgenous use of select pieces!
