Menswear: Orange Culture ‘Windy Path’ AW 2016 Collection (Full Lookbook)

Alternative Nigerian menswear brand, Orange Culture under the creative direction of Adebayo Oke-Lawal releases its AW16 collection.  Titled ‘windy path’ , the collection plays on the human senses of feeling, hearing and seeing.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the collection and the direction of the lookbook, designer Adebayo Oke-Lawal said:

“[The shoot] Reminds me of the times when I felt alone before my talent helped me find my voice. Almost blown away by norms and expectations until I found out exactly what my channel of communication was supposed to be. Clothes helped me connect with the world. Before I could sketch, I remember feeling misunderstood, not heard and unable to speak. For me clothes became my senses before I learnt how to confidently utilise my actual senses.”

Orange Culture’s Windy Path is a brilliant mix of textures wool, linen, cotton, denim with bold etches of knitted words in Adebayo’s local language – Oju (Eyes), Enu (Mouth) & Eti (Ears). Colours are warm – browns, oranges and reds combined with cool tones of blue. Non-traditional suits, a lot of straps, Orange Culture’s collections is always about the feel, the details, the craftsmanship.
