Show Report: AFI Joburg Fashion Week 2018: Marianne Fassler

The 2018 African Fashion International (AFI) Joburg Fashion Week took place in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg from 4-7 October 2018. In the theme #AfroAsia, AFI Joburg Fashion Week 2018 showcased the best of African fashion with a sprinkle of Asian flavour.

The Fashion and Style Department is doing Show Reports on some select designers showcasing their latest collection this season.

According to a review by AFI: “Marianne Fassler has spent over three decades in the fashion business. She operates from Leopard Frock, her creative workshop in Saxonwold, Johannesburg, selling garments and separates off the peg and also consults with individual clients by appointment. Leopard Frock is a very relaxed environment where everybody is made to feel at home. Marianne and her team are always on hand to lend advice or to suggest alternatives.

Her work is always superbly crafted, interesting and comfortable. She appeals to a wide spectrum of women who love individuality, identity, craftsmanship and diversity in their wardrobe.

Her work is diverse and includes garments to suit a busy lifestyle as well as custom made special occasion wear and stunning, highly crafted wedding dresses. Some awards given and projects that Marianne worked on include AFI Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Cape Town – Summer 2015, LABO International, Paris sees the capsule of Summer 2015, AFI Fashion Award for Exceptional Contribution to Fashion in Africa 2010.”
